The September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on America, brought the middle east wars to American soil. The July 7, 2005 terrorist attacks on the London public transportation system, brought the middle east wars to British soil. The world is not the same.

With all the interest in the Book of Revelation and apocalyptic scenarios, what does the Bible really say about the area of Iraq and Middle East terrorism? Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein were not the only ones fostering an atmosphere of world terror. Get ready for the BIG BANG of Bible prophecy in the Middle East !!

Introductory Comments

Saddam Hussein was in the process of rebuilding Babylon. This man was under the misguided delusion that he could bring back the past glory of the Babylonian empire. Archaeological excavations and restorations have taken place over the past while. History is being relived, Saddam's picture was in place of kings and emperors of Babylon's great and golden age.

The Bible foretold the destruction of Babylon's Empire and the fate of this great city: 'And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldeans' pride, will be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. It will never be inhabited, Nor will it be settled from generation to generation;' (Isaiah 13:19-20) Yet, this Saddam thought he could resurrect a part of history and rebuild a city which God Himself has proclaimed shall never be.

There is something more interesting about the history of this part of the Middle East. The alliances of the past and the family feuds of yesteryear are the basis of what we call the Middle East in Bible Prophecy.

Ancient Confederacy through Marriage

Jacob (renamed Israel) started a lineage of princes over the twelve tribes of Israel. His brother, Esau (renamed Edom), not only despised his inheritance, but also destroyed his genetic inheritance by marrying into the surrounding Gentile nations. Edom created Gentile princes of his own against God's national design and built a confederacy of princes against his brother Israel.

Genesis 36:2-3 'Esau took his wives from the daughters of Canaan: Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite; Aholibamah the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite; and Basemath, Ishmael's daughter, sister of Nebajoth.'

The confederacy is alive and well today

This very 'old hatred' [perpetual or unrepented of hatred] is the source of the trouble in the Middle East war soon to erupt again. Edomites are alive today. The descendants of Amalek are the instigators of Middle East terrorism. This is an old family dispute over an inheritance and blessing from God.

Psalm 83:5 For they have consulted together with one consent; They form a confederacy against You: the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; Moab and the Hagrites; Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek; Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre; Assyria [ German companies are Iraq's biggest supplier of modern weapons and dual use technology] also has joined with them; they have helped the children of Lot. Selah

A Command From God: Ethnic Cleansing

Exodus 17:14-15 'Then the LORD said to Moses, "Write this for a memorial in the book and recount it in the hearing of Joshua, that I will utterly blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven." And Moses built an altar and called its name, The-LORD-Is-My-Banner; for he said, "Because the LORD has sworn: the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation ."'

The Amalekites (descendants of Esau) used the same tactics as the terrorists of today. They attacked from the rear of the military columns, where the women, children, and the elderly were.

Ezekiel 25:12-14 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "Because of what Edom did against the house of Judah by taking vengeance, and has greatly offended by avenging itself on them," 'therefore thus says the Lord GOD: "I will also stretch out My hand against Edom, cut off man and beast from it, and make it desolate from Teman; Dedan shall fall by the sword. "I will lay My vengeance on Edom by the hand of My people Israel , that they may do in Edom according to My anger and according to My fury; and they shall know My vengeance," says the Lord GOD.

Can things be worded any clearer? God has commanded the descendants of Israel — the British Commonwealth and the United States of America and the Israelis to obliterate the likes of Saddam Hussein, Arab terrorists, and terrorist supporting nations, from the face of the earth.

The problem was the ancient Israelites would not obey this command, as it was too horrific for them to contemplate. The character of the descendants of Israelites has not changed. We being those people, will not carry out such an order, even from God Himself. Let's come back to this though a little later on in the article.

Basra — A Wasteland — like Sodom

Hardly any editing is needed. Just read the prophesies as written. They are astounding!!

Isaiah 33:1 'Woe to you who plunder , though you have not been plundered; And you who deal treacherously , though they have not dealt treacherously with you! When you cease plundering, You will be plundered; When you make an end of dealing treacherously, they will deal treacherously with you .'

Jeremiah 49:10 'But I have made Esau bare; I have uncovered his secret places (Saddam thought he could hide his weapons from God?), And he shall not be able to hide himself . His descendants are plundered, His brethren and his neighbors, And he is no more.'

Jeremiah 49:7-8 ' Against Edom . Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Is wisdom no more in Teman? Has counsel perished from the prudent? Has their wisdom vanished? (God thinks Palestinian and Arab terrorists are nuts as well.) Flee, turn back, dwell in the depths, O inhabitants of Dedan! For I will bring the calamity of Esau upon him, The time that I will punish him.'

Jeremiah 49:13-22 "For I have sworn by Myself," says the LORD, "that Bozrah (spelled 'Bosra' or 'Basra' today) shall become a desolation, a reproach, a waste, and a curse. And all its cities shall be perpetual wastes." I have heard a message from the LORD, And an ambassador has been sent to the nations (the United Nations today) "Gather together, come against her, And rise up to battle! "For indeed, I will make you small among nations, Despised among men. Your fierceness (brutality) has deceived you, The pride of your heart, O you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, Who hold the height of the hill! Though you make your nest as high as the eagle, I will bring you down from there," says the LORD. "Edom also shall be an astonishment; Everyone who goes by it will be astonished And will hiss at all its plagues. As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighbors ," says the LORD, " (You can expect the use of tactical nuclear weapons !!! by the U.S.) No one shall remain there , Nor shall a son of man dwell in it. "Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the floodplain of the Jordan Against the dwelling place of the strong; But I will suddenly make him run away from her. And who is a chosen man that I may appoint over her? For who is like Me? Who will arraign Me? And who is that shepherd Who will withstand Me?" Therefore hear the counsel of the LORD that He has taken against Edom, And His purposes that He has proposed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out; Surely He shall make their dwelling places desolate with them. The earth shakes at the noise of their fall; At the cry its noise is heard at the Red Sea . Behold, He shall come up and fly like the eagle, And spread His wings over Bozrah (spelled 'Basra' today) ; The heart of the mighty men of Edom in that day shall be like the heart of a woman in birth pangs.

Burning Iraqi Oil Wells

Isaiah 34:6-10 NKJV ... For the LORD has a sacrifice in Bozrah , And a great slaughter in the land of Edom. ... For it is the day of the Lord's vengeance, The year of recompense for the cause of Zion. Its streams shall be turned into pitch , And its dust into brimstone; Its land shall become burning pitch [burning oil wells]. It shall not be quenched night or day; Its' smoke shall ascend forever. From generation to generation it shall lie waste; No one shall pass through it forever and ever.

Iraqis have not destroyed Iraq's 1500 oil wells, and set them ablaze — YET! The smudge and smoke from the burning oil fields , will be an attempt to inhibit some future military action.

Ambassadors of Peace Shall Weep!

Isaiah 33:7-9 'Surely their valiant ones shall cry outside, The ambassadors of peace shall weep bitterly . The highways lie waste, The traveling man ceases. He has broken the covenant , He has despised the cities, He regards no man. The earth mourns and languishes, Lebanon is shamed and shriveled; Sharon is like a wilderness, And Bashan (grassy plains east of Israel, today parts of Jordan and Iraq ) and Carmel shake off their fruits.'

The Time of this Prophecy

This is an End Time prophecy. It has not been fulfilled. When you look at what Obadiah has to say it is clear: verse 15 'For the day of the Lord upon all the nations is near '. This is for our time. That expression 'the day of the Lord' can only be referring to an end-time setting. You are shortly going to see a dramatic set of events which will rock the nations. When God says it will astonish us, He means just that!

Consider the boasting and impudence of Saddam Hussein and read these scriptures:

Obadiah 1:1-3 'The vision of Obadiah. Thus says the Lord GOD concerning Edom (We have heard a report from the LORD, And a messenger has been sent among the nations, saying, "Arise, and let us rise up against her for battle"): "Behold, I will make you small among the nations; You shall be greatly despised . The pride of your heart has deceived you , You who dwell in the clefts of the rock, Whose habitation is high; You who say in your heart, ' Who will bring me down to the ground?'

Don't these words capture the situation, with Saddam's military having buried and hidden war materials, and the dispersal of other Iraqi weapons to Syria and Iran?

Obadiah 1:6-7 "Oh, how Esau shall be searched out! How his hidden treasures shall be sought after! All the men in your confederacy shall force you to the border ; the men at peace with you shall deceive you and prevail against you. Those who eat your bread shall lay a trap for you. No one is aware of it."

Notice Iraq being forced into a position politically. Allies deceive and set up a war footing. A trap. He is searched out and his treasured possessions are discovered. How much like we see in the news today concerning Iraq. But this nation is not alone. There is a confederacy.

Gulf War Three !

Be prepared for other nations to be drawn into this conflict. The Arabs will do as before. They will attempt to draw the Israelis into battle. The American forces in Iraq, are a target for a diversionary attack.

"Battle of the Red Sea"

The American naval battle groups, and the precious aircraft carriers are vulnerable to attacking Iranian naval forces (150 assorted vessels). American naval forces can overwhelm any Arab naval attack. Iraq could lose its entire navy, at the same time costing American lives in Iraq, in the land battle. Waiting for navy air support will be costly to land forces, as the navy fighter jets defend the carriers and battle groups.

Palestinian uprisings in Gaza and the West Bank , would keep badly needed Israeli forces from turning north to face the formidable Syrian armored units. Israelis would be completely on the defensive.

Israel under a chemical and biological threat of annihilation, will be forced to respond with extreme force. That means nuclear weapons.

If Saudi Arabia joins in on the side of Iran against the Israelis, and American forces, the American and British forces are trapped between the Saudi force, to the south-west and Iranian forces to the east. The Iranian and Saudi airforces have sufficient air power to press American and allied forces into diversionary and delaying actions, by attacking American land and naval targets. The Israelis will be hard pressed in a life and death battle for their national survival, in an attack from both Syria and Iran. Seeing what they see as a quick end to Israelis in Palestine, Turkey could join Syria in an attack from the north, the battle would be fierce.

But wait!! The God of our fathers has made it CLEAR that the modern day Israelites (not just Jews) will destroy the men of Edom, FOREVER. They are to be wiped out of existence. Do you get the point? God has determined because of the EVIL of the Edomites, that they are to be victim of God's ETHNIC CLEANSING at the hands of the American and British forces.

"Battle of el Buseirah"

Now take a look at the American NUCLEAR armed submarines in the Mediterranean. The Israelis have atomic bombs, to be used if they are pressed by their enemies. The British and American air forces are nuclear armed.

Jordan is the unexpected battle field: the ancient plains of Bashan (western Iraq and Jordan and a portion of SYRIA.) The combined Arab forces will be drawn into the Jordanian and Syrian plains. Here they will be destroyed.

The lands of Edom are to be uninhabitable!! The Bible prophesies are to be fulfilled, whether we like it or not. God has spoken it through the pen of His prophets. Remember we are not to despise prophesies. They will take place because God Himself will force the events to happen for His purpose. The world will be aghast at the calamity foretold by the Bible to happen to the peoples of Edom. Not a man will survive!! Cities will lay waste. Highways will be empty. The people will not be there. Areas of Jordan and Iraq will be uninhabited. How grave this is. How sobering.

Torah Torah Torah !

... and the prayer of the Jews.

The news did not make that big a deal about the 144 Jewish Rabbis flying around Israel, seven times, in prayer (a few of years ago). Do you see the parallel to another historical event — one where an enemy was wiped out to the man, woman, and child? JERICHO! (which comes from the root word meaning: a lunation ; month; moon.) Jericho is a story we do not really want to believe. It was a case of God practicing ethnic cleansing .

The Israelis see the gravity of the situation. They know they are in peril. The Israelis have called upon the God of their fathers to help them out in a time of extreme danger . I don't know about you, but this wakes me up! This is REAL!

In Defense of Jerusalem ...

What more has to be said about nuclear war in the Middle East, when you read something written about 2500 years ago ...

And this shall be the plague with which the LORD will strike all the people who fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh shall dissolve while they stand on their feet, Their eyes shall dissolve in their sockets, And their tongues shall dissolve in their mouths. (Zechariah 14:12 NKJV)

American Nuclear Strike !

There is soon to be a monumental event in the Middle East — nuclear war. The only way to neutralize certain chemical and biological weapons is to incinerate them at a very high heat.

"The house of Jacob shall be a fire , And the house of Joseph (America and the British Commonwealth) a flame ; But the house of Esau (the confederacy including Iraq) shall be stubble; They shall kindle them and devour them, And no survivor shall remain of the house of Esau," For the LORD has spoken. (Obadiah 1:18 NKJV)

Nuclear war is the only practical solution. It will establish a new and sobering view of world geopolitics: the period of regional tactical nuclear war . The European Union will be taken by the fallacy that nuclear war can be carried out on a limited scale, without bringing the world to total annihilation. America beware!

The ambassadors of peace will weep bitterly at the horrific loss of human life. There is no real ' peace in our time '. America will be greatly feared. The Israelis will be able to build the end-time temple for the coming return of the Messiah.

Edomites did not just fade from Middle East history. They are still there and against Israel. God's Word is true. Edom and their evil works will be cleansed from the face of the earth. Jacob-Israel (America and Britain) triumphs over his wicked brother Esau.
